10 Oct 2012 - Rehovot - Solemn celebration of the 35th anniversary
of the Veterans Union of the 2nd World War fighters against Nazism.
Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the Union, the former front scout , holder of many awards and medals Abram Grinzayd, congratulated all those present and spoke about the history of the veterans' movement in Israel.
Ministers, Knesset members, ambassadors and military attaches of several diplomatic missions, mayors and vice mayors of several cities, leaders and activists of social organizations had gathered to congratulate the home front and Ghetto veterans, the Leningrad blockaders and the war children.
In his speech, Minister of Immigrant Absorption, Sofa Landver, Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov and Russia's ambassador to Israel, Sergei Yakovlev noted the great and varied work of the members of the Union, including the conservation of the historical truth about the decisive role of the Soviet Army in the defeat of the Nazi forces.
Abram Grinzayd awarded Sofa Landver honorary membership of the Union.
The Head of FA Rossotrudnichestvo Representation in Israel, Alexander Kryukov congratulated the members and activists of the Union on this significant date and outlined the long-term and fruitful cooperation between the Russian Cultural Center and the Veterans Union.
The RCC Director handed spouses Binet and Abram Grinzayd the Russian commemorative medal "For love and loyalty," which recognizes couples known strength and duration of family ties based on mutual love and fidelity.
In the course of the meeting a concert was given by popular artists.
The famous singer and radio host Vlad Zernitsky conducted the evening.
