Russia and Israel
Russia and Israel have a long history of relations.
Diplomatic relations between the USSR and Israel were established in May 1948. In June 1967, diplomatic relations were broken off. In 1987 resumption of partial consular relations, and in October 1991 relations were restored in full.
In December 1991, Israel opened an embassy in Moscow and the Russian Embassy in Tel Aviv was established.
An important factor in bilateral relations is the presence in Israel of numerous (more than one million people) of the community of compatriots from the former Soviet Union.
Our countries are cooperating in various spheres, including humanitarian.
For the development of humanitarian ties the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv, was opened on October 10, 2007 .
The RCC activities are aimed at popularizing the Russian language, familiarization with the wealth of historical and cultural heritage of Russia, and the formation of an objective image of our country
