Russian linguist Max Krongauz (Higher school of Economics, Moscow), spoke to the Israeli Audience on 31 March 2016
on the current state of the Russian language
The lecture was held within the framework of the Russian Language and Culture Days, at Tel Aviv University, organized by the Cummings Center for the Study of Russia and Eastern Europe, the Association of Friends of the Tel Aviv University in Russia, supported by the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv. Russian linguist Maxim Krongauz (for many years engaged in the study of the processes taking place in the modern Russian language), gave a scientific lecture on the theme "We can not predict how our word will respond": language conflicts in the media and social networks, "aroused great interest among Israeli linguists,Russian language teachers, writers, translators, journalists and representatives of the blogosphere.
The conference was attended by head of the department of regional contacts and international relations at Tel Aviv University Dr. Haim Ben-Jacob, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv, Natalia Yakimchuk , Cummings Center researcher Dr. F. Kaplan.
For the participants of the conference an exhibition of the latest Russian teaching publications in the Russian language from the resoures of the RCC were on display.
On the eve of the conference, March 30, Professor Maxim Krongauz was the guest of the Russian-language radio station "Voice of Israel" (Radio REKA). The broadcast was hosted by the well-known radio journalist Lior Gan. The discussion with the topical issues of preserving the Russian language and its current state amongst Israeli Russian speakers, was attended by specialists in Russian philology - lecturer at Tel Aviv University, Dr. Marina Niznik and at the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv, Dr. Tatiana Yatsyuk.
