Israel celebrated the 217 anniversary of the birth of AS Pushkin at the street named in his honor in Jaffa
In honor of the day, and the Pushkin Russian Language Day on June 7 at the Alexander Pushkin Street in Jaffa, the traditional poetry gathering, which for several years has been organized by the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv, was held, marking the date of birth of the genius of Russian literature 217 years ago.
The Israelis gathered, to whom Pushkin's creativity is near and dear.
The poetic meeting was attended by the Head of the Russian Cultural Center, Natalia Yakimchuk, writer, translator, journalist, chairman of the Union of Russian Writers Israel Yuri Muradov-Moore, writer, member of the Board of Russian Union of Writers of Israel Gregory Friedberg (of Afula), and philologists-rusistyi admirers of Pushkin .
At the meeting the story about the history that led to the naming of the Alexander Pushkin Street in Jaffa was told.
In the speeches, it was noted that many of the works of the great Russian poet were repeatedly translated into Hebrew and are familiar to Israelis.
According to tradition, favorite Pushkin's verses were read.
The participants of the meeting were presented by the Russian Cultural Center with editions of AS Pushkin in Hebrew, English, French, and even Romani from the RCC's library fund.
